Long Awaited Renovation of Starbucks marks the beginning of the Rebirth of The Read House Hotel

Newly Renovated Starbucks at Read House Complete May 24, 2017

CHATTANOOGA, TN (For Immediate Release) – Starbucks, located in the historic Read House hotel in downtown Chattanooga, recently opened after a forty-five-day renovation. The renovation is the first step in the scheduled renovation of the circa 1925 hotel, acquired by Charleston based Avocet Hospitality Group in 2016.

Jonathan Weitz, owner of Avocet Hospitality Group said, “We are excited complete our first phase of bringing the Read House back to its former greatness. This hotel was at one time the centerpiece of Chattanooga, and we plan to restore it to its proper place.”

Weitz added, “Previous ownership had been contemplating a renovation to the Starbucks for some time.  Once we acquired the hotel late last year, we quickly got started and completed the work in a short time frame. This renovation was long overdue. We very much appreciate the hard work of our local contractor, TU Parks Construction Company. They did everything possible to get this new space ready in just 45 days. We very much appreciate our longtime customers who have supported The Read House Starbucks.  We know they will have a much more enjoyable experience in this new state of the art space.”

The renovation of the Starbucks is the first phase of our $20 million plus renovation of the entire hotel.  Avocet Hospitality Group continue use to work with our local architects, Artech, and our contractor, TU Parks, to finalize the design and construction schedule for the next phase.  The renovation of the entire property is slated to begin by the end of summer 2017.
